Thank You

On behalf of Coach Benjie Barham, we want to thank you for allowing us to have your kids for the last few months. We love each one of them as if they were our own and wish we could have done more for you guys this year. We may be in touch soon to have a final get-together but we will let you know via phone if we put something together. Don't forget that Jerry Brooks has videos for sale if you ever change your mind.

Thanks again!

NOTE FOR TONIGHT

Be prepared to "dry out" between games. If you want to bring an extra t-shirt for wearing under the pads, or extra socks, then that may be a good idea. We will try to keep the boys in cars between games.

FINAL REC GAME FOR COLTS

The following Colts will be playing their last game in the Clinton Parks & Rec League:

Barrett Barham (3 year Colt)
Chris Brooks (4 year Colt)
Ryan Goff (4 year Colt)
Ty Irwin (4 year Colt)
Jordyn Leonard (1 year Colt)

Dylan Moudy (2 year Colt)
Kyle Singleton (2 year Colt)

We will miss you, guys!

Thursday

Reminder: Be at Traceway Office at 6:15 to do walk thrus. We will play again for the championship at 9pm (Clinton High School) when we win. Will be a long night, but it will be done tonight!!!!! See you all then.

PS: Don't forget to yell for us!

Tuesday Practice: UPDATE

No practice tonight after all. Parks & Rec has closed their fields due to standing water everywhere. Their words to me today: If you're planning on practicing here, you had better bring a swimsuit.

So, check this site for info on Thursday's game. Sorry!

RAINOUT

We will now play our semi-final on THURSDAY instead of tonight. Championship Game (which we plan to be a part of) is still TBD.

I know that the first day of deer season starts on Saturday. But, the championship may be on Saturday morning before lunch. Please make this a priority, OK? It's going to be something you remember forever when we get that far.

So, we MAY PRACTICE AGAIN tomorrow to prepare for Titan Orange. More info will be here for you. Please please please watch this site for updates. It stinks for all of us to be so ready to win and then get a delay. It reminds the coaches of last year. More soon...

Remember This?

Our first day of practice together. We've come a long way since then. Remember this if we play tonight....

Sunday, November 14, 2010

NOTE FOR PARENTS!

This is the most important game of our season. A win here puts us in the Championship; a goal that we had from our very first practice. Our message to the boys then was simple:

It doesn't matter whether you win all of the regular season games. It only matters that you get better and better; perfect your positions and play the way that you are capable. Then, win the last three games and call yourself champions.

So, please wear your Colts t-shirts (over something warm!) and yell for these boys. Encourage them and cheer like CRAZY when we do something the way that we have practiced. Do that for us and they will respond. I promise.

See you all tomorrow night!

Monday Game

Be at the usual pre-game practice field (Traceway behind our football field) at 6:15pm. Note the new time. Not 6pm, but 6:15pm. PLEASE do not be late, OK? It will be short and sweet and recap the practice we had on Saturday.

See you then!

Friday, November 12, 2010

SAT PRACTICE

Sorry, guys, for the late notice of practice time. We will meet at 9:30 on our normal practice field (big baseball field). NOT THE PLACE WE'VE MET THE LAST TWO TIMES!

We are changing our defense for this next game and need everybody there. Also, we will be scripting our first plays for the game, so it's important that we run through everything as a team. This is the biggest game we will play so far ALL YEAR. Win this: Championship Game.

Come to practice in pads and be ready to really get serious. No more of what we did last night; running around and playing. We all look out for each other and want to have fun, but you've put in too much work to NOT take this practice seriously. OK? See you at 9:30am SHARP.

Thursday, November 11, 2010

Thursday Recap

Not our best game of the year, right? But, in the end there is only one thing that matters:

WE ARE ONE GAME AWAY FROM THE CHAMPIONSHIP!

Win one more, guys, and all that we've done this year will be worth it! We're proud of the effort you guys have put into this season. Don't quit now, OK? See you Saturday!

Wednesday, November 10, 2010

REMINDER

Meet at our practice spot from last game (on soccer field beside/behind Traceway office) to get ready for the Braves. If we really get ready and do what we should, then we should be able to get ready for our next game, too. BUT: ONE GAME AT A TIME, COLTS!

6pm. Be there.

Tuesday, November 9, 2010

PLAYOFFS

Guys, we play on Thursday at 7pm against the Clinton Braves. Let's go out there and get our "swagger" back, OK? We are pretty lucky here to get this chance to keep playing instead of sitting out and getting rusty. I just know that after Thursday's game and Saturday's practice (yes, I said SATURDAY'S PRACTICE), that we will be ready to play the Orange again!

I watched the film and we did pretty good. We just need to fix one or two things and then we are ready to head to the championship!

See you all at the same place we got ready for Monday, OK?

Monday, November 8, 2010

NOTE FOR MONDAY

We will NOT meet at the usual practice field for pre-game. We will meet just behind the Traceway Office; the place where you can see both of our game fields. Be there at 6pm.

Kyle's mom will be at the practice field to direct people to the office. Due to daylight savings, we will have no light at the practice field. Be ready to get going when you get there. It may get a bit cold tonight, so be prepared. We should win tonight if we do the things we know to do. We will go over those at 6pm. See you there!

Thursday, November 4, 2010

Thursday Practice

We're still on for tonight in pads. 6pm sharp because we will not get much time before it gets dark. Just a final quick team practice before the game vs Terry Orange next Monday. Try not to be late, OK?

PS: It will be a bit cold. Be prepared!

Monday, November 1, 2010

Monday v Titans

Guys, I will not be with you tonight. BUT, I will be be with you after this. So, please listen to Coach Benjie and play the way you know you can, OK?

And remember this: those guys wearing blue tonight are not your enemies. They are another football team that plays the same as you. Treat them with respect. Play hard, play tough, play fast.... but NO LATE HITS OR TRASH TALK! If you hit somebody hard, then pick them up and pat them on the helmet. And win or lose, you meet them after the game with respect.

You are getting ready for the playoffs. I've told you before that it doesn't matter whether you win all of your games in the regular season if you lose your first playoff game. You are still the best team in Clinton. Just go out there and play like you intend to play for the playoffs. You will be amazed.

I love you all and will see you very soon!!!

Monday, October 25, 2010

Just Plain Proud!

You guys did great tonight. Really. Two plays kept us from shutting them out. And those plays were ones we expected. Now, we can be ready for those when we practice next to play them!

Remember what I said tonight: We are in this only for the playoffs. And we are getting better (and more consistent) each game. So, be proud of what you're accomplishing and promise yourself that you will work hard on each and every play for the rest of the year. For those of you that are in the last year of 11-12 football, you have only TWO GAMES LEFT (before the playoffs) in this type of football. TWO GAMES where you get to play two ways for the entire game. TWO GAMES where you are the best players on the field.

So.... enjoy it. Play hard, fast and tough. Picture yourself holding the league championship trophy at the end. You'll never forget it if you do!

PS: A HUGE THANK YOU AND HIGH FIVE TO RYAN GOFF. I've never been more proud of the effort you've put in for our football team. Thanks!

Sunday, October 24, 2010

Monday Game Info

Guys, please make plans to be at the field before 6pm tomorrow. If possible, no showing up at 6:15. We need to run through all of our progressions before we play the number 1 team in our league.

You are better than them. The Colts have more interceptions that all of the other teams combined, as far as I know. If they throw a lot, that makes the defensive line job easier! So, let's be ready to come to practice and prep for caving in on the line; fast motion and blocking for the backs; reading the run and dropping back into pass coverage for the LBs; etc.

You will be amazed at how good you feel tomorrow after playing these guys. You are just getting better each game. See you then.

Wednesday, October 20, 2010

WEDNESDAY UPDATE

Alright, ladies.... You've had two days off. Tomorrow will be time to get back to the Clinton Colt football practices we had before we played our first game.

Our first order of business will be to talk about what we did RIGHT and what we did WRONG during the last game. Oh, yeah.... I've watched it over and over. And I have a few things for ya.

So, get ready to be serious when you come tomorrow. No playing around once we hit stretches. We will be a football team from 6pm until 7:15. Back to the "old school". That is what will make us better. See you there.

Sunday, October 17, 2010

Sunday Note

  • Remember what we talked about yesterday on defense.
  • Remember what we expect our next opponent to do.
  • Think about what you will do at your defensive spot to stop them.
  • Think about where you plan on lining up and what your first read will be.
  • Play relentless defense; tackle hard; be quick; play smart.

See you all at 6pm on our practice field on Monday!

Colt DVDs

REMINDER: The DVDs are available from Jerry Brooks for $5 each. All of our guys are featured in them and they are so much fun to watch! We have 7 players who have reached the endzone, 5 who have had interceptions and the line is overpowering people. You guys know how to find him. He's at each game with the video camera, so be sure to find him and ask about how you can get these great keepsakes!

I still watch the old ones all of the time!

FRIDAY REMINDER

I have a ticket to the Clinton High School football game for each Colt. If you want to go onto the field before the kickoff with the rest of your brothers, then be at the field at 6:15pm. I will be there and looking for you to give you a ticket.

If you get there and cannot find me, or if you're late, call my cell (601-953-8562). Worse case scenario: tell the ticket taker that I'm standing by the track with the other Colts and to let you get your ticket from me.

They asked that you wear your jersey, but I would be OK with either the jersey OR the blue Clinton Colt T-Shirt. Either way, try to come!!!! See you all there.

PS: I watched the game video last night. Fun.

Thursday, October 14, 2010

Thursday Notes

Wow. Just plain and simple. Wow.

REMINDER

Be at practice field at 6pm sharp to get ready for game.

We need to give you tickets (possibly tonight) for the Clinton High School game tomorrow. If you want to be introduced during the game, you have to be there at 6:15pm and look for me. They want you to wear your jersey, but I think it would be OK to wear your blue Colt t-shirts instead.

Coach Benjie will be the only game coach (tonight only). I'll be a spectator for the first time ever. Get ready guys!!!!!

Monday, October 11, 2010

Picture Day & Practice

Meet at 5:45pm (or earlier) at the Clinton Parks & Rec offices for pictures. The offices are where we play our games. Immediately afterwards, we will go to our normal practice field for at least 45 minutes to an hour for practice. See you there!

Saturday, October 9, 2010

Saturday Update

Parents, this is the Picture Form that you will be seeing on Monday to purchase team pics. Of course, you don't have to purchase them, but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make sure that you make arrangements to have your Colt at the team picture on Monday at 5:45pm. I will double-check and post the exact place that they will be taken, but for now, PLAN ON BEING AT TRACEWAY AT THE GAME FIELD AT 5:45PM.

If you need help with a ride to get your player there, let me know. Coach Benjie and I will be more than glad to help. We have yet to ever have a Colt missing from a team picture.

This morning, we were missing 5 players but did the best we could. One or two changes, but that is OK. We will go directly to practice immediately after pictures (on our same field).

PS: All should be OK after our Monday issues. Let's get ready to go back into our normal routine and play the way that we've played the last two games. You are the best team in the league right now without a doubt. We just have to do one or two things better. See you Monday.

PSS: Watch the site by Monday!

Thursday, October 7, 2010

THURSDAY NOTE!!! PLEASE READ!!

My apologies, everybody. The game where the Colts will be introduced at Clinton High School is NEXT FRIDAY!!! I misread the email. So, NO GATHERING AT CHS ON FRIDAY NIGHT!

See you all at practice on Saturday at 9:30am!

Wednesday, October 6, 2010

WEDNESDAY UPDATE

Guys, practice is off for tomorrow. You have a week before your game against Clinton Red. So, we will use this time to relax and then do our normal walk-through in short and t-shirts on Saturday. It turns out that both me and Coach Benjie, as well as Barrett/Ty/Kyle and others, can't come anyway. So, you have the day off.

We have pics on Monday at 5:45. So, plan on watching this site for times and place to meet.

ALSO: WE WILL BE ON THE CLINTON HIGH SCHOOL FIELD ON FRIDAY EVENING. WATCH THIS SITE FOR INFO. IF YOU CAN COME, PLEASE DO. SUPPORT YOUR BROTHERS AND SHOW THAT YOU GUYS ARE A FAMILY.

Entry is free to the kids and Benjie and I will be there to "round everybody up". More soon, Colts!

PS: Still extremely proud of the effort you put into the last game! You guys are great.

Tuesday, October 5, 2010

Tuesday Update

Guys, please check this site by tomorrow evening to see the status of Thursday practice. Barrett, Ty and Kyle (and maybe others) have a school event that they have to attend. Coach Benjie wants to see his oldest son play football that night. And, with everything that happened Monday night, we will see what happens.

I love you guys dearly. You are making such great strides not only in being great football players, but the biggest reason is that (as I told you the VERY FIRST PRACTICE) you are becoming real "brothers". We can all see it in the way you talk to each other, trust each other, laugh with each other, and play football together.

With adults, however, sometimes there are outside factors that can play a part in the coaching of your team. Monday didn't help. We will see what happens with your coaching staff in the very near future. But no matter what, you guys need to continue to do your jobs the way you can and become a group that depends and trusts each other above everybody else during football season. I love you all. More soon.

REMEMBER: Check the site, OK?

Monday, October 4, 2010

Game Recap

A couple of things, guys...

1. You played one heck of a game tonight. The difference between game 1 and tonight was similar to a one-year difference. The strides you're making are amazing. The offense (line and receivers/backs) are as good as I've seen; and we're only three games into the season.

2. Don't let the 1-2 record fool you. There is NOBODY out there that looks at us and says "We should beat them".

3. Tonight, after the game, was ugly. It is not how adults are supposed to act. It is not how you guys are supposed to act. Do not let this set an example to you of what is "OK". It most definately is NOT. Some things we can control. Others, we cannot. But it is how you respond that makes you stronger.

Use this, and the progress you've made, as an incentive to keep getting better. You are one heck of a football team, and NOBODY will look at you as "easy". I think that's obvious after tonight.

We do not talk trash, we do not hit after the whistle, we do not rub our victory into the other team and we hold each other accountable. That is what can make you different from others. The coaches and parents love you and think you are making great improvements. Keep it up.

Practice on Thursday at 6pm. Don't be late. We have work to do.

Game Day Update

Parents: Wear your Colt shirts tonight and cheer for us the entire game!

Colts: I think Terry Blue lost their game against Terry Orange. So, that means that you can whip them, too. And, now there is only ONE team that's undefeated and you play Terry Orange two of the last three games. If you win tonight, I sincerely believe that you will be no worse than 2nd place before we face them. And if they lose along the way, then we will be in first! So, hit HARD tonight!!!!!! See you at 6pm SHARP!

Sunday, October 3, 2010

Monday Game Info

Just thinking about tomorrow night's game, guys...

Here's the deal. If you play 100% (follow your power pushes, hit hard on every play, run hard on every play, don't jump offsides on a "no-snap" call, be ready at corners for passes, etc) then you can easily win.

But, these guys practice all the time. They don't have the same restrictions we have in Clinton. So, they will be more prepared because they've had more practices. Can we do what we did on Thursday?

Absolutely. But, you have to come to the game ready to do everything you have been taught. No "sometimes I will do it" plays. Be your best each and every time.

We start hitting again with full practices on Thursday. Make tomorrow night's game a statement to everybody else in the league that you are the best team out there. See you at 6PM SHARP ON THE PRACTICE FIELD!

Film Study Can Be Fun!

Learn from the film. Eliminate your errors. Play your position smartly and HARD! See you Monday!

Friday, October 1, 2010

Saturday Practice

Guys, we will spend our Saturday morning get-together at my house watching both of our games on DVD. That will allow us to see what we're doing prior to the game on Monday. Let's plan on meeting at 9:30am sharp on the practice field and then you can follow me to my house. It's just off of Pinehaven (Hunters Ridge subdivision). My yard is directly behind the CHS baseball field, so it's close to Traceway. Plan on being done around 10:45am. If you need something, call me on my cell. It's under my contact info on the right.

Parents are invited to watch the DVDs, too. We will discuss our strengths and weaknesses, so be ready to see what you did GOOD and what you did BAD, OK? See you all tomorrow!

PS: For those who want to put it in your GPS, it's 109 Hillshire Court. All the way in the back of the neighborhood.

Colts Introduced At Clinton High School

On Friday, October 15th, Clinton High School will be playing Northwest Rankin at Arrow Field.

Before the game, the Clinton Colts (along with other teams) will be introduced and allowed to run onto the field. Tickets for the kids will be free.

I need to know by next Friday (October 8th) whether your Colt will be able to attend. They are looking for a headcount by then.

Catch either Coach Benjie or me and let us know. Thanks!

Thursday, September 30, 2010

Colt DVDs

Parents: each game is recorded by Chris Brooks' dad. And they are great! He sells them for $5 each. Do not miss out on the chance to keep these memories. And, to let your kid watch to see what they can do better.

Want more info? Let us know the next time we're together and he will give you the details!

What A Difference A Game Makes!

Don't kid yourself: you guys are good. We've been telling you that if you play your positions, good things happen. We haven't seen the film yet, and you did make a lot of mistakes, but that tells us that if you play 100%, you will absolutely run away with this league.

Check this website for more info about Saturday, but get some rest and enjoy the victory. All of us are very proud of you tonight!

Get Ready: 6pm @ Practice Field

Be prepared to hear what we did RIGHT and what we did WRONG on Monday. That is how you get better. No sugar-coating, "everybody is a winner because we competed" tonight. If you really want to be a good football player, let's work toward doing the little things better. OK?

Wednesday, September 29, 2010

WEDNESDAY UPDATE

Be at the practice field tomorrow at 6pm sharp. I've reviewed the game film provided by Chris Brooks' dad and know that we can fix our mistakes. That's what we will cover and go over things again.

Ty may or may not play with us. His right wrist is in a soft-cast and I'll decide tomorrow before practice. Get ready guys!

Monday, September 27, 2010

It's Just One Loss!

We have a whole season to go, guys. Use this game, like the coaches, to get tougher. Stronger. Quicker.

Nobody played a perfect game. Nobody. So, let's all come together as a team and win the rest of the games this year. Promise your Colt brother that you will play smarter and tougher. You'll be surprised what you can accomplish!

Be At Practice Field At 6PM!

See you there. We will run through everything for 30 minutes and then head to the field for the first game!

Friday, September 24, 2010

Socks

PS: Clinton Parks & Rec did NOT provide socks for the season. Many of the Colts have long, royal blue socks that they will be wearing. If you get some, that would be great. But, it's not the end of the world if you don't. Thanks!

Colt Jerseys

Jerseys are in my trunk. I'll hand them out at practice tomorrow morning (9:30am, you sleepyheads). Be there! No pads necessary. Just helmets.

Thursday, September 23, 2010

GAME CANCELLED

Jerseys didn't make it. Parks & Rec cancelled the game. What a shock, huh? We will now play next Monday at 7pm AND next Thursday at 7pm.

Be at the practice field at 6pm anyway. The good news is that we get two more practices to get ready for Clinton Black. As long as we can keep getting better at our position play, then that's OK. See you all then....

Wednesday, September 22, 2010

WEDNESDAY UPDATE

Reminder: Be at our practice field tomorrow at 6pm SHARP to do a few walk thrus and a few quick hits to "get rid of the anticipation".

Jerseys should be waiting on us when we get to the field, but wear a football jersey (preferably white) just in case they mess up!

Monday, September 20, 2010

Practice Recap

OK, now you've seen what you're in for.

Execute.
Think about what your job is.
Play your position.
Continue to drive your man on your blocks.
Be quick to get back to the huddle and to the line.

See you all at 6pm on Thursday on our practice field. Be ready to run thru everything quickly before we get there. I'll try to have the jerseys available then!

Monday Update

Ryan will not be with us tonight due to sickness. We will practice heavy from 6pm to 6:50pm. Then, we ride over to the soccer fields to watch our first opponent (Clinton Black) play against Terry. While it will be fun, we need to be watching to see that we CAN beat anyone we play, and to see that if we do our jobs, we can run away with games.

Get ready to be "fast and furious" tonight. No breaks until we get finished!

Sunday, September 19, 2010

COUNTDOWN

One practice left before our game on Thursday. 98 hours till our first live test.

Tomorrow, we will stress the importance of everybody playing their position! You know what to do, right? So, just execute on every play. Think of what your responsibility is at each time. Don't worry so much about what others are doing or whether you might make a mistake.

YOU WILL MAKE MISTAKES! Everybody will. And that includes the coaches. So, just do the job you are supposed to do in the best way you can and we will be ready as a team. Sound easy??

“Some of us will do our jobs well and some will not, but we will all be judged on one thing: the result.”

Look What's In !

Will be handed out tomorrow at 9:30am!

Team Pictures

PARENTS: Note that we are set to take team pics on October 11th at 5:45. However, we will be taking other pictures by the coaches just as soon as we get our jerseys.

Malik cannot make it tomorrow, either. So, it may be a quick run-through for the morning. See you then!

Thursday, September 16, 2010

Thursday Practice

Hey, I know it seems unorganized, but that's OK. That's how we learn and get ready for game day. We ALL need to do the following:

LINE: Know your power pushes. Think when you're at the line. Listen for the audible and adjust (PPL, PPR, PPP, PPS). Don't move on the "no snap" calls.

OFFENSE & DEFENSE: Hurry to your positions after the play. Offense gets in and out of the huddle quickly. Defense gets in their positions quickly and thinks about their responsibilities.

BACKS: Full speed on your plays. If you don't have the ball on a fake handoff, act like you have it! Fool the defense into chasing you!

All offensive plays should be under 15 seconds. Make this your goal!

NOTE TO EVERYONE: Watch this site (especially tomorrow) for updates and special announcements, OK? Saturday at 9:30am, we will be missing Barrett and Kyle. Jeffery will step in to the QB spot and we will find a #2 TE.

See you guys then!!!

Colt T-Shirts

T-Shirt orders went in today. We're hoping to have them on Friday in time to give out for the usual Saturday run-through.

I helped to design them this year and I think you guys are going to love them. And think of the cheering squad that we will have on the sidelines! More soon!

Monday, September 13, 2010

Monday Practice

Tonight may have been our best effort thus far. Everybody seems to know what we're doing and when/how to do it. Just think of how much better we will be when we go against the other teams!

Unless I hear otherwise, t-shirt orders go in tomorrow. My cell and email is on the site (look to the right!) so let me know if you want a last-minute order.

Congrats to those who made the next step in toughness tonight. All of you have it in you; just get it out on the field, OK? Bring it all to practice and you will run away with the games.

On Thursday, I'll try to take some pics for the site. See you all then!

Sunday, September 12, 2010

FYI

As Of This Post:

265.5 hours till our first "hit" against someone else
11 days till game time
4 practices until we hit the field
1 goal

You ready to make them count?

Colt Helmets

Oh, and in case you're thinking that I forgot, take a look at what's waiting for you tomorrow for practice...

Sunday Note

(1) Reminder that we practice tomorrow at 6pm on Field 6. Full pads and great attitudes. We will begin our "first game regiment" of going through the first plays of our first game and doing them as fast as we can.

(2) We have a surprise for you guys that will become a part of our games and practices.

(3) Reminder that we need t-shirt orders tomorrow, OK?

We will be inviting the Clinton High School football coaches to practices soon to have them help out. We may even have a few Arrow players helping to coach us a bit.

Linemen, we are going to attempt to give you an idea of what to do in the "next step". For the first installment, that means tackle and guard "pulls". Remember that you have to be thinking every time you go to the line. Which is my "read". PPR, PPL, PPP, PPS, or (now) when you can pull. Fun, huh?

See you at Field 6 tomorrow at 6!

Saturday, September 11, 2010

Saturday Recap & T-Shirt News

Practice is getting better. I think you guys can see it. On Monday, it's back to our standard drills of hitting pads, running our position is 1/2 v 1/2 drills, and finishing with hitting each other.

We have 20 t-shirt orders, so we will definately be moving forward. The last day to get your order in will be after Monday night's practice, so be sure that you have yours in by then!

Great job, guys. We are super proud of the effort you're putting in to get better!

Friday, September 10, 2010

Saturday Practice

Plan on being at Field 6 on Saturday morning at 9:30am. We will work for roughly an hour on individual and team drills. Shorts, t-shirts, and helmets only. See you all then!

Wednesday, September 8, 2010

Position Instruction

Parents of Alan, Josh, Barrett, Chris, Jeffery, Jordan, Malik, Josh and Ryan:

I sent an email to you this evening with a rough outline/reminder of the responsibilities of your Colt on defense. Be sure to look for this in case it is in the SPAM folder. Read both documents and be prepared to ask questions as practice. But, do not share them with anybody outside of the Colt team.

It's almost impossible to coach 15 players on both defense and offense (never mind line, receiver, LB, QB, CB, S, Ricky, Lucy, 1, etc). So, take a look at the documents, ask your Colt if they understand and be prepared to ask questions and perfect their responsibilities. OK? Let me know if you need anything at all!!!

T-Shirt Order Form

Parents: Please read carefully. Just to highlight a couple of things:

(1) One-time order since we have a minimum

(2) Checks, please, to Clinton Printwear & T's

(3) Double-check the order & prices, OK?

You can turn in to Benjie on Thursday or either of us on Saturday. Once we get all orders back with checks, we will process the shirts. They should be blue with the logo on the front and roster on the back. I can't WAIT to see our cheering squad all wearing Colt-gear on the sidelines!

Tuesday, September 7, 2010

T-Shirts

It looks like we WILL be ordering t-shirts for the group. I will be talking to the printwear place tomorrow morning and will post an order form for you here. You can then give it to Coach Barham on Thursday, or me on Saturday.

Tentatively: It will be dark blue, have the Clinton Colt logo on the front and the roster on the back. Will let everyone know what I find out tomorrow. Stay tuned!

Tuesday Practice

Best practice so far. Hands down. And I think you guys can tell the difference, right?

Defense getting faster and smarter. New positions for some; still more responsibilities to learn. But I think you guys ran it great today.

Offense getting quicker and more precise. Need to run at full speed a bit more, but that will come.

Linemen have the toughest job for learning, but they are getting there, too.

Be proud of yourselves. We still get two weeks to get even better. Just bring that same intensity to the Thursday practice and then we can do shorts and t-shirts for Saturday morning. Great job, gang!!!

TUESDAY PRACTICE

PARENTS: We will have a new practice location for Tuesday! Instead of our usual Field 6, we will practice elsewhere within Traceway Park. Enter the main entrance (the one that you use to go to the Traceway office). At the stop sign, there will be a field on your left. That is where we will tentatively practice.

We have to do this because our competition will be on Field 6 and I really don't want others seeing what we're doing. Can't wait to see you there!

Practice Cancelled For Monday

Guys, we are cancelling practice for tomorrow (Monday) because some of you are out of town. We will practice Tuesday instead and MAY have to move to another field because other teams will be practicing on ours and we don't want to have any of our techniques watched.

So, please ensure that you check this website before our Tuesday (6pm - 7:30pm) full-pads practice, OK? More then!

Saturday Morning Recap

We had 9 Colts there to go thru the offense this morning. Good job running thru the plays. We're getting faster at it and the new Colts are learning what we're doing. Still a lot of things we (as coaches) have to "fine tune", but hey...... you guys will make it happen no matter what!

I know that you don't believe us, but you really are a darn good group of football players. Part of us believe that we could have NO plan in place and you guys would score. But, we are here to learn and move up. So, keep working hard and you will be surprised at how much better you can get as football players.

PS: The t-shirt order is up to 14. Only 6 more if you're interested? Need to know soon. Also, only a few Colts left with no helmet logos. Don't forget, OK?

T-Shirts

FYI: We have requests for 10 t-shirts. Need 20 to get them (not 24) so let me know if you're interested. Helmet logos ordered for those that paid on Thursday. Window stickers for those who ordered will be put in on Monday. Thanks, parents!

Saturday Morning Get-Together

Colts, I've been thinking about our first day in pads from Thursday. After thinking about it, there were a lot of positives to go along with the negatives. Just a few:

On the good side, it was our first day. But, there were a number of you who did get fired up and hit hard! The tomahawks were generally good, the break-down drills were generally good and the power-push drills were done OK. You guys also had fewer mistakes during the post-practice running (watching the ball).

The rest will take care of itself. I'm just wanting it to get there faster than I should, so bear with me, OK?

Whoever can show up at the field at 9am tomorrow in shorts, cleats and t-shirts can go over the offense again. Linemen and linebackers: you can come to support your brothers or miss this one. The more you see, though, the more you'll be ready! It should last only one hour and (I promise) NO RUNNING afterwards!

Watch the site for the time of our first practice of next week!

Colt Schedule & Players

First handout for parents. We will have a "program" to print for you prior to each game that you can use to follow the players, their records, and more!

Clinton Colt Merchandise

Parents: These are the items that are available (right now) for our team. The helmet decals are $10 for both sides. The window sticker is $10. Jerry Brooks will have DVDs for sale but the price will be determined a little later. My advice is to buy the DVDs because you will cherish them for a lifetime!
We may or may not buy screenprints for the jerseys. We are waiting to see what the jerseys look like beforehand. In the past, we've had our names on the back, but we may put a Colts logo on them if the parents want.
Clinton Printwear and T's will do T-shirts for us if you like, but we have to order 24 in order for them to cost just $10 each. That can be something the parents decide together. They may be neat for wearing under our pads, for the coaches to wear on the sidelines and for the parents in the crowd. We can do whatever the group wants!

MONDAY: 1st Practice Recap

Colts, you guys had a very nice first day of walk-through practice. All of this stuff was probably new to most of you. And, since we don't know where each player will be playing right now, it seems like a lot to learn.

But, you've already shown that you have the athletic ability and the smarts to run our offense and defense. Believe me: it will get BETTER and FASTER as you do it over and over.

Our only problem is that we have too many good football players. That means that good football players will be on the sidelines some. But everybody will play at least half of the game. And, you will be switching in and out. So, be sure you understand exactly what your jobs are, OK?

Be in pads on Thursday at 6pm. Same location. This is where we take what we learned and build on it to make us champions. And brothers. See you there!

Monday Practice

COLTS: Come to Monday's practice (6pm at Traceway Field 6) in your cleats, shorts, t-shirts and helmets. We will go over the basics of our offense and defensive schemes this year. We will show you what we do and how we do it. Expect to be there about and hour and a half. Oh, and bring water and get ready to learn!

See you all then!!!

Draft 2010 Results

Congrats to the returning Colt football players:

Barrett Barham, Ty Irwin, Ryan Goff, Chris Brooks, Dylan Moudy, Malik Richardson, and Kyle Singleton!

In addition, we have seven new (first-time) Colt players:

Jordyn Leonard, Joshua Johnson, Alex Shay, Jeffery Hammond, Josh Sampson, Tony Robbins, Alan Graves and Jordan Newell!

This draft gives us a four solid linemen, two solid tight-ends, two experienced defensive ends, more cornerback and safety hopefuls than we've ever had, and speed to burn. In essence, we have all of the tools necessary to easily repeat the successes of 2007 and 2008.

Look for more info as soon as we are cleared to contact everyone and get together. Your offense is designed, your defense is designed, and all we need now is YOU!

Get Ready For The 2010 Season!

It's almost time to sign up for the upcoming football year at Clinton Parks & Rec! Once again, the Clinton Colt Football Team will be in action and we look forward to continuing our journey together. Look for a text message from Coach Delvan soon as we do our best to keep the long-time Clinton Colt team together for their final year of Rec Football.

A new offense is being structured. On defense, we will take the next steps in learning how to play positions. So, be sure to sign up and try to keep our team together!
